How To Keep Pigeons Out Of The Garage

Many people are beginning to experience problems caused by an infestation of pigeons – their numbers appear to be increasing year on year. These birds have adapted well to urban living and thrive when sharing their living space with humans. Pigeons require easy access to food – one pigeon can eat up to sixty-four pounds of food in one year – and a comfortable roost. If you want to know how to keep pigeons out of the garage the first thing to remember is – don't feed them! However tempting it is, feeding pigeons will only exacerbate the problems they cause, encourage other pigeons to roost in the area and increase the amount of mess they create.

When pigeons are searching for somewhere to roost, they prefer an area that is flat and even – clearly a garage has a number of areas that fit this particular bill. The most efficient method of keeping pigeons from any potential roost is the installation of a bird net. A bird net will cover the roof, eaves, frontage, and light wells of your property, making it virtually impossible for the pigeons to find a comfortable place to rest – this should then drive the birds away from your property and deter newcomers.
